Doonbank Cottage is an amazing wildlife site. The woodland contains Roe deer, rabbits, squirrels, pheasants, partridges, quails, owls, herons, ducks, a wide variety of finches and tits, plus many more species. South Ayrshire Council and the Scottish Wildlife Trust suggest that there are over 35 species of birds. The River Doon itself supports and attracts a wide range of wildlife, including king fishers and both salmon and trout. Both the pheasants and partridges are regular visitors to the cottage and enjoy breakfast with us.
