"This
absolutely charming thatched Cottage has just come
off the top of the chocolate box. In a stunning
secluded location, yet located directly on the
banks of the River Doon, this property is a well
kept secret." CKD

"We have had
a lovely week. The cottage, grounds and weather
have all added to this. Our little girl has fed
Hamish and his friends every morning and has loved
every minute. Everywhere we have visited has been
excellent Culzean Castle, local parks,
beaches and especially the The Heads of Ayr Farm."

"WOW! A
beautiful cottage in an idyllic setting. Our two
springer spaniels [Murphy and Purdey] loved
sniffing the woodlands and searching for Hamish. We
didn't need to do much sight seeing because the
grounds of Doonbank were lovely and peaceful - just
what we needed. Would recommend walking along the
river bank to Brig-a-Doon - a delightful stroll.
The vast array of books were enjoyable to look at
and the piano was a pleasant suprise. Many thanks
for a great stay and many adventures." The
Todd family - Milton Keynes and Northern
Ireland.

"This was
the ideal base for the run up to our daughter's
wedding. Weather was mixed all week but luckily the
sun shone at the right moments and we'll have some
wonderful memories of a brilliant day. The cottage
was great - plenty of room for the entertaining we
had to do." The Paterson family
[Aberdeen].
|
"Love the
cottage and surrounding area [could seriously
live here]. A day trip to Arran is well worth
the effort. Hamish and friends appear twice a day
morning and between 1800 and 1900 in the evenings.
Brilliant weather all week" Brian and Lynda
[Oxford] Margaret and Willie
[Hawick].
|
"Weather wet
and windy for most of the week. Despite this we had
a great time. Cottage excellent. Two dogs
[Floyd and Hollie], both golden retrievers
really enjoyed the beach twice daily. Shanghai
Rendevous in Ayr well worth a visit for Chinese
buffet. Ferry trip to Isle of Bute also
recommended. Hamish a star!" Graham,
Julie + Amy Jones.

through the gate of Doonbank Cottage a whole new
world opens up and we so enjoyed the enchanting

hoped for! Fabulous weather. " Brend &

"We very
much enjoyed our stay here at Doonbank Cottage.
Kids loved exploring the woods and going to the
beach. 4 days just didn't feel long enough. We hope

"Thank you
so much for a fantastic and very relaxing week. We
are already planing to return in the summer with
more of the family. The cottage is fantastic and we
didn't want to leave. Have enjoyed the walks along
the river and from Auchincruive [Oswold
Hill]. But try not to get lost like we did - a
3 mile walk turned into 10 miles in the pouring
rain [ However, we all had a good time -
especially the dog] :o]." Natasha

"It's a
cottage we could only aspire to live in, in a
dream. I should think it is one of the top 3
buildings for quaint, awesome asethtics we shall
every encouter. Compared to our normal lives, we
were in heaven. Your taste in decor and
architecture is superb and the position and land
surrounding is wonderful. You made 2 people very
very happy and I'm extremely grateful". Nigel

"Thanks very
much for a fantastic week! Everything has been kind
to us, not least the weather for this time of year!
Particularly enjoyed the day trip to Arran - highly
recommended. Cottage has been great - it hasa very
warm and welcoming atmosphere and a great mix
between accessibility and countryside feel. We hope
to come again," [Dave and Sally [all

"I've never
been to Ayr before and was impressed with the
facilities in the town centre and the lovely
countryside and huge posh houses! Toby [6
1/2] loved the park on Ayr seafront and Pirate
Petes. Jacky the dog enjoyed swimming in the River
Doon. We all enjoyed staying in the Doonbank
Cottage and would love to see the gardens in full
bloom." Toby, Rob, Helen,
Jacky.

"Thank you so
much for a fantastic week. The cottage is amazing
and our three spaniels loved the woods and the
river. Ayr beach was good fun as was Girvan beach.
We spent a super day at Loch Lomand. We really
don't want to leave [and neither do the
dogs] and we hope to return again soon, though
we might all need a rest first as we have done
nothing but walk and walk [Galloway Forest Park
is stunning]. The fire in the evening has been
brilliant and the dogs have enjoyed stretching out
in front of it while we relaxed on the sofas
[which were super comfy! Thank you again for
letting us spend a week in such an idylic setting.
You have a truely beautiful house." Stuart,
Kate and Mollie, Bindie and Daisy the
spaniels.

"I just
wanted to say what a superb week we spent at
Doonbank Cottage earlier this month. The cottage
was absolutely lovely and very comfortable. The bed
was, in fact, the most comfortable we have ever
slept in so we went out and bought the same model
for our home while we were there! Am I right in
thinking that the cottage is built in the Arts and
Crafts style? I studied Art and Architecture way
back and it was nice to see a real example of
something I'd studied all those years ago. I would
certainly stay in the cottage again and have
recommended it to others. I believe a colleague of
mine has already booked for November. If you would
like a testimonial from us please don't hesitate to
ask and feel free to use any comments in this
email." Helena Dainton and family. South
Shields.

"We had
great weather this week and just leaving as the
rain sweeps in! The cottage is lovely. Piano a nice
surprise [although could do with a tune if
possible]. Hamish and Gregory have been
visiting and we saw a Roedeer at the start of the
week in the garden. Warm and cosy cottage with very
easy acces to Alloway." Andy, Maureeen and
Chris. Sussex.

Many thanks
indeed for leaving us a bottle of champagne to
enjoy on our honeymoon in your beautiful cottage.
Undoubtably we could not have chosen a more perfect
place to start off our married life. We enjoyed
every moment. We will highly recommend the cottage
to our trusted friends and family. Robert and
Lisa Carter.

"Thank you
very much, we had a very pleasant stay. Kids wanted
to take the beds home. Beautiful place and would
definitely recommend to anyone". The Garnham

"Well the
only bad thing to say about Doonbank is that we
have to leave it. Many many thanks for the use of
your beautiful home for the past week. We were
blessed with nice weather, not one spot of rain -
can you believe it! The coastline is spectacular
and I am sure we'll be back very soon. Have loved
watching the rabbit family slowley demolish your
brand new lawn!" Gill and Phil, Caroline Ian,

"What can we
say? Wow! We have had the most wonderful week at
Doonbank Cottage. We immediately fell in love with
the cottage and felt so very much at home here.
What an amazing house in an amazing place. We have
not overly felt the need to stray too far from the
cottage, however we have spent time visiting Loch
Lohmond, Calzean Castle, Larg town and have walked
Ayr beach numerous times. The Brig a Doon
restaurant was exactly how you described it,
welcoming with amazing food and we spent two very
pleasant evenings there. Our walks along the river
can only be described as truely lovely. Poppy and
Boss have had the best week of their lives with all
this freedom, however Boss being the best escape
artist that ever lived had to return to his lead
after disappearing and Phil having to run around
finding him :-) Poppy now believes this is her
home, we don't know how to break the news that we
have to leave oh so soon! (see pic attached of our
new invention to stop Boss escaping far).We have
spent our week plotting on how much to offer you
for this house when we eventually win the
lottery.....that's how much we loved it here. :-)"
Yvonne and Phil Millen, Polly and
Boss.

"Thank you
for a fabulous week. Doonbank Cottage is thoroughly
relaxing and a great time was had by all in the
general area. Loved the sound of the reiver and the
charm of the cottage and of the gardens. The
cottage has been the perfect location for our
visits to Ayr with the family and for Arran".

"We have
really enjoyed our holiday at Doonbank and we are
sorry to leave it. The kids have enjoyed the space
and dogs have loved being able to laze about the
garden at their own leisure. It is the perfect
place for peace and quiet and to sit and watch the
rabbits at night was good. The dogs really had fun
in the river as did." "It feels like you are in
your own little world with no-one to bother you -
brilliant". Paul, Michelle, Paul, Sean and
the dogs, Meg and Jura.
